If you're looking for episodes of YCDTOTV and you have no episodes to trade (and if you did why would you be looking for episodes??) then you should visit www.barthsburgery.com. It is only the best way to get high quality copies of the show for only the cost of a blank vhs and shipping. He is a great guy who is making ZILCH on the deal and on top of that he will get it in the mail faster than you can say "I don't know"! Visiting Barth's Burgery won't solve all your problems, but it will help you with that dreaded "You Can't Do That on Television" withdraw. :)
This website brings back sooo many great childhood memories! I wish I could watch old episodes! Maybe someday they will come out with DVD's of YCDTOTV!!!
It is time to finish off the girlfriend that Alasdair has. He's *my* fantasy & he's *my* lover! Alasdair, please love me as much as I love you!
Does anyone have any episodes of YCDTOTV for sale,if so please let me know..
this was my favorite kid t.v. show of all time!!! i had such a crush on christine! funny tho'-i can't remember the theme-song anymore...i wish i still had the tapes i made of the show, hell, they were on beta anyway! why can't NICK bring back YCDTOTV and Turkey Television for just one marathon weekend?
When we moved to Virgina in 1987 I was in sixth grade and had trouble making friends (I'd had a lot in Ohio and wasn't used to having to climb the ladder, so to speak). Anyway, "You Can't Do That on Television" was great child angst, yeah, you don't hear that term too often. My favorites were Christine, Allister, and Adam. I enjoyed the reruns as well as the new ones. With the popularity of DVD Box Sets showcasing an entire season of a series, it would be nice if Nick, or someone, would do that with YCDTOT. I certainly would be interested in DECENT copies of the show. Super Site!!
Was a cast member for a while, the took off! Can't believe you guys still remember this show!
I was just wondering whatever became of this tv show, so I got online and I found this site. I'm 17, and I used to watch it when I was younger...wow, I really miss shows like this. It was clean but still fun.
Wow! I'm in my 30's but I remember this show well. I thought it was a dumb kids show but seeing that one episode really warms my heart. I was funny without being too over the top. Really brings me back. Christine was great. I can't believe for a kid that age how charismatic she was. She was also very beautiful. What a cutie. I wish there was a picture of her today.
It is really amazing to see so much interest in the show after all of these years. Of course I have very fond memories of working with all of the cast and crew. In fact, I can't recall a bad day on set. This is a very nice site. Excellent work. Funny to see myself on the Web...weird :)
I remember watching the show and all excitement that cracked me up twenty years ago. I like all of the episodes. Adam getting slimed
LOVED THAT CHRISTINE when I was about 12. Anybody that has a tape of the "Home Remedies" episode...Please share it with me. That's the episode where Christine has a cast on her leg...Thanks
Has anyone heard anything about the show coming to DVD in the near future? I think it would be a great idea! Who do we need to get a hold of to get something like this moving? Duuuuaahh I heard that.
This was one of my all-time favorites! I used to watch it religiously and I would love to see it on tv again!
It was so nice to see these web sites. Nothing ever gave me the chills more, then when I heard the theme song when I entered this site. Some one has got to start playing these classics again. These pictures really take me back. Hope that all the cast members are all doing fine. This show kicked ass and deserves to be shared with all of us again!!!!!
Nick at nite or t.v. land should bring this show back. You can't do that on television is one of my all-time favorite shows!
What ever happened to Nickalodeon???? You Can't Do That On Television, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula???? Those Were My All Time Favorites!!! And Now... *Grrr!* A Stupid Cartoon About A Sponge??? Nickalodeon Is Now A Mere Shadow Of It's Former Self!!! Let Us All Join Together And Slime Todays Nickalodeon until They Bring Back The Legends!!! Who's With Me???
i loved this show and i havent even seen it in years though i still remember it as if it were yesterday anyone who is interested in chatting on this show please send me email
When someone finds out Alasdair's band's name, please email me!
I loved this show. I always wanted to get slimed. :) Kitchener - Ontario, Canada
I loved this show.....seeing all the pics bought back some great memories. I loved it when people got slimed. The jokes and skits where excellent.
why do you lie all the time
Having just recently found an old box of video tapes I had from when I was a kid, I was watching through some of them, and found some ep's of YCDTOTV. I hadn't thought about the show in so long. It brought back so many fun memories. Christine and Lisa were my fav characters! My best friend and use to always call each other Lisa and Christine. I'm so glad there was such a great show like this as I grew up. LONG LIVE YCDTOTV!! Mollie Duck
I'm planning to write a song on the radio about Alasdair. I feel like Roscoe Coltrane on the Dukes of Hazzard saying "Alasdair, I'm going to cuff you & stuff you & make you mine!" I will make you my lover guy some how! I want you more than ever!!
Simply put, YCDTOTV was one of the best kids' TV shows ever made. Everyone now knows that this was the show Alanis Morissette was on at one time. It was kind of cool that interest in the show began to rise again after Alanis became so popular, but my favorite was without a doubt Christine. LONG LIVE MOOSE!!! Every episode was great, start to finish. Very funny, and of course I loved the slime and w... uh, liquid... scenes! Other favorite cast members: Les and Abby (of course), Lisa, Chris Bickford, Jennifer Brackenbury, the Stanley sisters, Sariya, Dougie, Vanessa, the Godfrey brothers, Marjorie, Alasdair and Kevin Kubusheskie. Prayers for Les Lye would be appreciated as he suffered a massive heart attack not too long ago. Sorry to all you Spongebob Squarepants fans, but today's Nickelodeon programs just don't compare with the magic that was YCDTOTV! It's really sad that today's viewers think that Nickelodeon actually DID invent green slime, when in reality it was invented 23 years ago at a small TV station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada! Unfortunately, unless Nickelodeon and CJOH can work something out, we won't be seeing YCDTOTV on TV or on video or DVD for a long time. Although I think the show would be great for Nickelodeon's Noggin network! In a nutshell... YCDTOTV ROCKED, AND STILL DOES! Sometimes it's so easy, I'm ashamed of myself!
I remember sitting on the floor in front of the TV, my sister to one side and and my crying, infant brother to the other. Well, I'm now 20, my infant brother is 16. I remember quite vividly the "I don't know" bit where the green slime would fall out of nowhwere, covering the seemingly unsuspecting recipient. How tempted I was, in elementary school years, to coax someone into uttering those precious words, only to be let down again. Damn! Where is a stagehand when you need one? I looked up to Dougie and Alisdair as an "older brother" thing, and Christine as a superior, all-knowing person. That show meant so much to me when I was so young. I promised Mommy and Daddy that I would be good, lest I get ground up into burgers to be eaten by my TV heroes. And Blip goes on collecting the quarters! Great show!!
You need a page devoted to the Stanley sisters (Jill and Amy). The 1989 and 1990 years must be recognized (and the girls were so cute). As a kid, I always thought being on this show would have been a blast, despite the humiliations involved sometimes (slime, pies, dresses, diapers). Heck, even being older now, it would still be fun. "Melissa: As Seen Online" is a great fan-based site with original stories in the YCDTOTV style. Everyone should check it out if they have not. Water you waiting for...oops...[water falls from above]...that came out wrong, I don't know how it could've happ...[slime falls from above]. Okay, okay I deserved that, just no pies alri...SPLATT!... [wipes cream from eyes] I think I've said enough alrea...SPLATT!
i am having major flashbacks as of now... they have to bring the show back to tv. i am 22 and this was smack dab in the middle of my time era. great web site... whats moose been up to? consider this my petition for new episodes! e-mail me about any new material or anything info people happen to have about the show or cast members. thanx...
I remember watching this show when i was reaally young on Nick. I never know the name though until i found it here! Thank you soooo much, even though i hardly remember an episode i really appreciate it! Im now 13 and my friends think im nuts when i ask them if they remembered a show with kids getitng slimed and a crazy old cafteria cook!
I always enjoyed this show mostly for the slapstick humor (slime, water, pies, etc) but there were some interesting commentaries made about society and life that kids could relate to. It never got old and was always fresh, despite the cast changes. Though the early years are considered classic, I hold fond memories of the last years with Jill, Stephanie, Sariya, Ted, Chris, and the rest. I salute the show for what it was and what it still is in the hearts of so many. Here's to the memories... [He stands and salutes with one hand while getting splattered with cream pies in his face.]
This so rocks! Many an afternoon was spent watching YCDTOTV at 4pm on Nick... It was the highlight of the afternoon and never thought to check for anything online - I was just pokin' around at lunch and found this site. It's good to know I'm not nuts and there are actually other people out there that just couldn't get enough of this show!
Alasdair please be mine. I'll somehow make you mine!
I was 5 when I discovered YCDTOTV after my parents ordered cable in the 80's.This soon became my favorite show after just the first episode. My question to nickolodeon would be...Why not at least air YCDTOTV on Nick At Nite? Just Asking, A Fan-atic.
I loved YCDTOTV! I had a HUGE crush on Alasdair, this site brings back a lot of old memories!
I used to love ycdtotv, i still have many fond memories of it!! Loved the lockers the best. Awesome site!!!! Is there anywhere you can get episodes from on DVD or Video? I'd love to purchase some to relive the old memories.

I guess im alot younger than you guys, cause i didnt watch YCDTOTV till i was about 5 or 6 in the early 90s.. they showed it pretty late in australia. unless they were repeats? but i loved it! :( none of my friends remember it though. I remember that chef would give me the creeps, how he'd put hair and stuff in their burgers! hehe.. whenever i see his face it brings back memories. oh and those tails! i remember where this girl and buy were kissing, and their braces got stuck hehe. why dont they ever bring back good shows?! :(
Really liked the show in the 80's. Enjoyed the watching the program better than cartoons.Liked everyone growing up on TV. Tried to look for it on todays TV....I'm ready for YCDTOTV the movie so what do you say folks?
I thought this show was the bomb. I was growing up when this show was on. I really thought Jennifer Brackenbury was hot! And when she got slimed! Whoa! :)
does anyone remember the diaper episode? I was so little then, and I think that I recall a diaper episode.. I jsut want someone to stop my insanity.. thanks
This website rocks!!!!! YCDTOTV was the coolest show ever!! I had a HUGE crush on the guy with the leather jacket.
Les Lye suffered a major heart attack in Ottawa yesterday...He is resting in Hospital. I am a friend of his family.
Like the web site. I miss this show so much. Keep up the good work. Hey, check out this web site. It's a rapper named Arnie Sykes and one of his songs is called "U Can't Do That On Television" http://www.arniesykes.com
but what i REALLY whant to know is: when will they air DANGER MOUSE again?
kick ass site. i haven't seen that show in over a decade. the real question is what does poshmodern have to do with this site? I DON'T KNOW!! keep up the good work, ay.
Great shots of facial expressions! I've always loved the faces made by Patricia Routledge and Mollie Sugden.
ii watch imy teen in 1986 in rerun on the zone on ytv and ytv get new one they ask for it and we more of this tv snow ane get some new cast
I'm a huge fan of Alanis and I have to thanks to the webmaster for bring a lot of great pictures of her in her first era. By the way, where I can find clips from the show?
I always told my mom that I used to watch a show when I was little and I explained it and she said, there was no such thing. But then I was watching"Before they were rock stars" on VH1 and I saw the one about Alanis Morrisette. They told about this show nad it looked like the one I had watched as a kid. But here I am and I really only remember vividly one skit. Pretty bad huh. One of the girls wanted to shave her legs and her mom told her not to but she did it anyways and like 2 seconds later she looked down and the hair had grown back and she screamed and ran out of the room! But I do know that I loved that show and I did not want it to end . But bye ya'll
This is a song that I would sing about Alasdair, "If I could fly,I'd pick you up I'd take you into the night & show you a love like you've never seen-ever seen"
Alasdair on the show, If I could get in the show with you I would hug you & squeeze you hard & hold you good
It would be a wonderful thing if I was on that show
This show ROCKS! It was the best show ever. It would be amazing if they would put it back on tv...Or, make a fallow up show to it, in this generation...or keep the original generation...dress up the characters like back in the days...I know I would watch it...and would LOVE to be in it.
i think it is stupid that nick took you off the air
great site
I love this show, but there needs to be episodes that we can download and watch!!!!!!
I have been living with matthew for a few months and all he can do is wave his bum in my face and pretend it can talk to me. I wish he would stop! It is very hairy and sometimes I think it will eat me right up! ick!
Alasdair where are you? & what's your address?
I have a clever imagination about that show! What if you were in the show and you sang the song 'Hello,Goodbye by the Beatles the slime would interrupt your song. Here's how: You say "Hi", I say "Low", You say "Why" & I say "I Don't Know" Splat! You get slimed! or I don't know why you say 'Goodbye" and I say "Hello" and then splat! again
here's a big hug for Alasdair
I hope to meet Alasdair Gillis someday. I wonder where there's video tapes of certain episodes sold anywhere. If so I really want to see them & I'd buy them.
IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE EPS, PLEASE EMAIL ME. AS OF RIGHT NOW I'M GIVING OUT FREE EPS!
I'm 33, and remember this show in 1981 when i was only 12 years old. It was a great show for us early adolescents. I loved LISA RUDDY, GIRL YOU ARE MY IDOL!!! I loved the way she kept TALKING and TALKING and TALKING. Because of Lisa Ruddy, I came out of my shell. I would love to meet her in person some day. I love to talk because of her. I was so shy until i saw Lisa on televison on this cool show. I watched all of the shows until 1990 when it ended (sigh!). In the very last season, Jill and Amy Stanley were my favorite girls and without a doubt, Ted Wilson was the coolest kid on that show! I loved when Abby Hagyrd and Patrick Mills got slimed TOGETHER!! That was so hilarious. I just wish the former cast members the best of luck, there will NEVER be another show like this one. WHAT A SHAME Nickelodeon went down hill in the late 90's and stealing the SLIME theme from you guys!!! During the early years, my favorites were Justin Cammy, Matthew Godfrey, Angie Codett, Klea Scott, Lisa Ruddy, Vanessa Lindores, Alasdair Gillis, Eugene Contreras you guys gave us memories that will live in our hearts forever. Troy in Los Angeles, used to be in texas!
I was addicted to this show in the early-to-mid 80s! It was on Nickelodeon every day and I never missed it! The kids were hilarious. I can't believe it's almost 20 years since I first watched this show. (How old does that make me feel) I would love to watch it again. I wish a station would pick it up, or better yet, release some classic episodes on video! I grew up with this show, and I have many happy memories of it. My favorites were Christine, Lisa, Kevin and Alisdair.
I love the show! It has a lot of weird and gross things in it which I like and are fun! Alasdair is pretty cute!
I loved the show. We got cable in the mid-eighties, and I watched this and "Pinwheel" and some other shows. As I got older, I watched this a lot more. I liked the theme song, the execution squad, and Blip's arcade. I thought Lisa, Alasdair, and Moose were all good actors. I pleaded with my Mom to buy that green slime shampoo. I remember watching one episode with my friend Scotty. I liked the way the glass ceiling looked that was shown when the show started. "Out of Control" was another good show for wacky comedy.
I'm interested in buying any episode featuring the girls (especially Christine) getting gagged, either with a hand or cloth. On one of the very last pages in the gallery I saw what looked like a girl rolled up in a carpet being put into the back of a van--I could faintly detect what looked like a bit gag in the mouth of what appears to be a girl (Christine?). Am I mistaken? Ich liebe geknebelte Maedels!
