I loved You Can't Do That On Television. It came on for Nick's birthday. It was really funny when the kids were saying I don't know and they got slimed and kids were saying water and they got water dumped on them. Do you guys have videos of the show?

I don't understand the attraction I had to this show, it had bad color and it was generaly Grose, but I would sneak around the house to watch it, becuase my mom did not like it and did not want me to watch it....maybe that is the reason why I became such a loyal fan...Well the early seasons, not newer ones. YCDTOTV was one of my favorite shows growing up in the 80's. I LOVED Christine, and the show was just terrific... better than any other kids show on TV, especially after the demise of the Muppet Show. I hope one day to be able to get the early '82-'86 episodes on DVD. That would be fantastic!!

I'm 25 now, but I recall not being allowed to watch YCDToT (strict parents) but that only made my thirst for watching it greater. The still hasn't been a better kid's show in my opinion, so many gross out jokes. I live with the hope that someday they'll release it all on dvd. Anyone for an armpit burger?? I heard that!

i have the answer to where alisdair is.hes back in school in ottawa and was at slimecon.i also liked this show alot especially the 1st season(1979) because theses episodes are the only ones i remember and im 20 yrs old.i also remember alisdair and justin.and blip was my favorite of les lyes portrails.my favorites were:lisa bradfield elizabeth mitchell alisdair les abby christine david iain and mike patton....

i just want to hail the whole concept of Alasdair in the dungeon. he's so cute... Les Lye's character is so gross... it's just so very wrong... and in the best way possible! (ESPECIALLY when the dungeon sketch follows the choir sketch. whew! man...) VIVA ALASDAIR IN CHAINS!!!!!!!!!!!

I really loved YCDTOTV. That was one of my best memories of the 80's. I especially loved to see the girls get slimed!!! Stephanie, and Saryia were hotties!!!!

Im so glad that I found this site! I used to watch this show a long time ago when I was pretty little, Im only 17 now, but I always remembered it was really funny. I ask people all of the time if they remember this show and most of my friends never seen it. It's cool to look at all the galleries, they really bring back alot of memories.

Please, please, please to the powers that be please find it in your heart to put reruns of the coolest show ever to watch when i was a kid back on the air. I am soon to be 30, and I know i am not alone in saying i would watch the reruns again to relive childhood memories. Everybody my age and older knew the show. Watched the show. And loved the show. It would be so cool to see old childhood friends back on the air. It would also introduce new fans to the coolest show for kids to watch. Anyway, thank you for your time.

Nick has not been the same in quite a while. The current crop of toons has some good items such as "The Fairly Odd Parents",but "All That" and "The Amanda Show" are at times just stupid. Nothing like the consistent quality of "You Can't Do That on Television". It is surprising also how the gifted cast just dropped out of sight. They nearly all should have had careers in comedy for years. Christine would have done well for "Saturday Night Live" as would Alisdair.(I wonder if he still has the perm?.) Also Abby and Les deserved better. t

My favorite skit was in the enemies episode my brother taped a few years ago when Adam and Matt had to fight over who would take Alanis out on a date and when Adam lost, he had to take Alanis out on a date! That was so funny that the loser of the battle ended up with Alanis! Oh, and when she was pied in the face at the end of the episode, that also was funny.

I loved this show and watched it every week on YTV. YCDTOTV was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I loved the firing squad part, kids getting slimed and I think there was the wolfman radio and the dungon. All the parts were great. I wish they would try and put the show on reruns in canada. It's was a ground breaking canadaian t.v. show first before it was in the U.S. You could bring it back and do it for a new generation of kids.

Started watching this in the mid 80s when I was about 18 or 19. It made a great change from what what currently on the tube. At first I thought it might be too childish. Of course it *was* so I had to sneak to watch it so I wasn't discovered. Ha ha! Now I have several episodes I downloaded and it really brings back memories. This was great stuff! I hope everybody on the show has fond memories of it like I do.

My brother got me a little hooked on the show-- especially when I found a couple episodes he had taped a year or two back (this was about 1991?) and I never got tired of re-watching the tape over and over. Best things about the show were the slimings and waterings! I used to love when it would happen! REALLY interested in reruns. If there are any? What time and channel? I have satellite t.v. Otherwise, wish I still had some episodes on tape!

The show seem good. I think they had a good cast on the show. Some of the people who have signed the guest book seem to not like the show anymore, but I think the show will always have its fans.

What a great websight dedicated to the best show ever (well maybe not ever). The slime, water,pie charts are helpful, although not complete. Does anyone remember the shows greatest sliming? Chris Bickford got it good on a show from '89, I think it was. Anyway, it was at the end of the show and slime is poured over Bickford for the entire duration of the credits. Who took the most pies in the face? I'd say either Ian Fingler, Alisdair Gillis, or ,unfortunately, the cute Lisa Ruddy? Well Fingler only lasted one season but was pied often and I think Gillis was pied more than Ms. Ruddy. Am I correct or am I all wet (ha, ha, I should be watered down for that). Anyway, the show was original; the first real "gross out" show on T.V. Bye for now.

I came across this site. I have some 8-10 episodes on vhs from my childhood days and came across another 5-7 on kazaa. Brings back memories and laughter.

There is a petition in which you can sign if you want YCDTOTV on vhs. There are currently 0 signatures, and our goal is 10. Once we get 10 signatures, we'll forward the petition to TMC. I remember watching YCDTOTV back when Nickleodeon was a comercial free station. I really liked the You Can't... show. I taped several episodes and still think it's funny. The only thing I did NOT like is the unceremoniosly way the show just diappeared from off the line up. I really think YCDTOTV is responsible for a lot of the things I now see ( interms of ideas) on Nick. I always thought of YCDTOTV as a kind of a juvenile version of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. I just watched "City Life" again recently, it's the episode I remembered best from when I actually watched it as a 12/13-year-old. Funny, funny material. I think all of the kids on that episode were really spotlighted well, you know, it wasn't so-and-so's show, it was everyones, and they were: Matthew Godfrey, Vanessa Lordes (?), Doug P., Adam Reid, and Andrea. A great show. I'd say it's still my favorite, with "Enemies and Paranoia" and "Know-It-Alls" falling closely behind.

I watched this show constantly when I was a kid and I LOVED it. It was funny and gross and everything you like at that age. I always had the biggest crush on Moose..........

Man, this was a freak show. Little kids sitting on adults laps, kids getting crapped on in a toilet, that boy doing his thing in undies with the producer! No wonder things are in a bad state of affairs. I am glad this kind of filth is no longer on the air. It's downright criminal!

Gosh.. What a fun site this is! So many memories of loafing in front of the television when other kids who actually had friends were outside playing! It's so nice to be older and remember my childhood with fondness, especially now that I'm OKAY with having had a gigantic crush on Alasdair. Makes perfect sense now (and should have made the years to come a bit easier to understand).

What's Your Favorite Episode(s)? I'd have to say mine are... Enemies and Paranoia--Adam Reid steals this show with that ridiculous wrestling outfit and the scene with the rubber ducky. And the Opposite Sketch where he is a bully who does homework and gives candy bars. Know-It-Alls--Matthew Godfrey's introduction to the series. I think this episode had a bit of social commentary, with all of the kids jealous of Matthew's giftedness. Part-Time Jobs--It may not have been his first episode, but this is where we really get to know Matthew's younger brother, Amyas. It also features the recurring scene of Adam getting fired from one job after another. Contests--"You know I hate being called Matthers!" Matthew attempts to count jelly beans for a contest. Parties--Alanis Morrisette. Adam fools his principal into believing he is turning 75-years-old in order to get out of detention. and, althoguh I haven't seen them in 15 years, Country City Life and Home (where they discover the principal is a robot) are memorable to me.

Its unfortunate Lisa Ruddy is married. As an adolescent growing up in Ottawa in the 80's, she was just so hot. Of course, I mean this in a nostalgic manner, not a creepy way HTH

This is a great site with tons of picutres (more, more, more please)! Yeah it's a great show and im glad i bought them on dvd, and just the other day i finally found the only season i was missing so now i have the whole collection, which is probably the smartest thing i did. So this website is pretty much gone now though, since everyone found out that we can buy it all on dvd's.

i seriously had no clue that this show was so popular, all i had before i found this sight was faded memories, i would give anything to get this show on air its about tied with snl, mad tv, friends, but it's so mostly because i was so young and i really want to bring back just a few memories of that wonderful show.

I loved this show for so many reasons,it was always funny, they always had something new even if it was with the same sets, and i loved how they always got slimmed. I remember one episode where one of the people say how thirsty he is and how much he wants water but when he says "water" he gets slimed instead. I also like the one where this one girl broke her leg and was in a cast and crutches and only has the toes of her feet sticking out, so Ross came up with his feather duster and tickled her toes which made her laugh so much she ended up falling in the trash can and couldn't get out and you never actually find out how she got out.

I had forgotten all about this show until I saw a commercial the other day about old school Nickelodeon---lol----I used to love it. Kevin K rocked! I am too old for this--lol

i've been a big fan of ycdtotv since we got it here in the late 80;s in Australia when The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation screened then at a 5.30pm timeslot on a show called The Afteroonshow i got hooked from episode 1 :) I did taoe them i wish i had kept them if i had known they won;t be repeated Christine rulez she was the best Host :) long live YVDtotv :)
