There's just not a show like You Can't Do That on Television. I don't honestly think that anyone else could put together such a wild and funny show! I never remember getting so much enjoyment out of any program before, and I think I won't see one like it again. The only thing I don't like is that I can't find anyone who broadcasts the show....I sure miss it!
I absolutely loved this show! I remember when they introduced the green slime shampoo. I would be in the shower, hold the shampoo bottle over my head and scream, "I don't know!" Then after lathering it up, I would scream, "Water," and rinse it out. I was a freakin' dork, but it's good to see that others enjoyed the show as much as I did. I wanted to be Moose, and I wanted Alastare. Moose was just a bad-ass, and Alastare was just stinkin' hot!!
loved the ashow and love this website, looking 4 other fans to chat to , my all time episode was when they did the thang on ghosts and at the endf of the showthe casdt members dressed up in ghost offits and chistin saids that you guys cant scvare me and then she realizes that there was a real ghost and runs threw a door, i nearly peed my pants watching that e[isoed . i loved moose shewas and stil is my fave cast memberless lyle is anoher fave of mine i didnt realize that he played so many roles in that show, im an older fan but that show keerps me feeling young i stil use alot of the quotes from that show i always tell my 2 cats that theyre threason that i never had any kids of my own i rember less saying thjat one , wel gota go great website an y fans out there please feel free to email thanks bud
I'm an old guy(45 in 2001) that LOVED this show. I really was in love with Lisa and Christine. Luckily I taped a lot of episodes so I get to watch it still. Unfortunately, it will probably never be on the TV again so I feel sorry for those that didn't have the foresight to get a VCR. LONG LIVE MOOSE! dated December 24, 2001
LONG LIVE MOOSE!!!!
(...d'aiiii heard that!)
YCDTOTV was the future of television as far as i was concerned...i knew that i'd eventually grow older, move on, and head on down life's road...and life's road needed real 'balls' television, and ycdtotv was that ballsy television! Unfortunately, the show was cancelled before i even entered high school, leaving me a lazy and shiftless layabout and ne'er-do-well...without the soothing tonic of ycdtotv to ease my youthful angst, i quickly turned to a life of drug abuse, graffitti'ing on city walls, joining a gang, impregnating six different young ladies and adopting a punk-rock demeanor (and hairstyle)...Yes, a woeful tale of depravity and jail time ensued for this young lad, where not even the 'cutting-edge' style of fox television could bring me the highs i had once experienced on those afternoons long since past watching a little cable channel called nikolodeon (and whatever happened to them?)...anyhoo--to wrap this up, i type this from a turkish prison "resort" which i find myself in (i don't know whose heroin that was in my...ummm...'orifice', i did not do that thing to the boy, and the goats were paid for!), i have 3 life sentences to think about the impact the show 'you can't do that on television' had on my life...gotta go--my man's waking up and he don't take no mess from his bitch...
cheers! janglingjack138
I loved this show. I remember sitting in front of the TV for hours when Nick would run the marathons. I sent like a million entries in that contest they ran to get slimed. I'd love to get my hands on the videos or dvd's if they ever put them out. If anybody knows where I can get the shows on tape, email me. Thanks
Good site! I typed this url in for the heck of it and was shocked when this came up!! I'm 26 and can remember the old episodes as clear as a bell.
I think the (you can't do that on television) show was the best!!!!plain and simple!alasdair gillis, dougy ptelomy, kevin(don't know his last name)jody morris and CHRISTIAN TESSIER are sooooo HOT!!!!!!!!
My mom was a bridesmaid at Les's wedding, and his wife was my mom's Maid of Honour. We still all stay in touch and he is a genuine, loving, funny man. I am honoured to have known him.
We really loked Ben Schreiner who was on briefley in 1984. He was tall, thin and had that beautiful long blonde hair. If Craig (poohbear001) is watching, could you tell us if he still wears rugby shorts and can he still dance loke Michael Jackson?
I loved that show and I wish it was on again. It brings back so many memories.
I had forgotten about this show untill someone said to me "do you remember that show with that girl name moose where they slime you and throw water on you for saying i dont know" Suddenly, the memories began flashing back and I yelled out "YOU CANT DO THAT ON TELEVISION!!" Everyone in the room just gasped and said "OH MY GOD". We all took turns telling our stories, "do you remember the one where.....and that one with the....oh,oh,oh, what about the one when the guy..... We sat around telling stories from around 10pm till just before 7am until someone realized the time. It truly was a trip down memory lane. If anyone knows where I can see any re-runs please email me. I would love to see some old shows. the_fotografer @ hotmail.com
COOL I CANT BELIEVE IT I USED TO WATCH THIS SHOW! AND FOR SOME REASON IT DISSAPEARED? IM GLAD YOU GUYS PUT IT BACK ON THE INTERNET AT LEAST! ITS ACTUALLY FULLFILLING MY MEMORY BACK!I MISSED THIS SHOW AND THE OLD NICKELODEON. TODAYS NICKELODEON ISN'T MY GENERATION.
This is a great site, it brings back great memories. Its been like about 10 years since i kept in touch with the show. I remember watching that slime dropping down on those kids, made me laugh. Christine was one of my favorite characters to watch on the show.David
Oh my gosh, I am 15 yrs old and I soooo remember that tv show but no one else does....i loved that show! they should still show it on tv...it brings back memories!
Blue Skies, Barthy Burges, Girls......I LOVED YCDTOTV!!! I miss it sooo much, anyone know where I can find some videos?
I am Mr. Lye's Agent, He has seen the many pages created by fans to honor this show, and is thoroughly moved. He is open to many ideas in relation to having a convention for the show, but if one was done it would have to be done right.
I wish kids of today could see this show. Have you taken time to see what is on TV now? Man we need to get the good clean fun of shows like YCDTOTV.
This was one of my favorite shows ever. I wish Nickelodeon would re-air this show again. It was nothing but laughs from beginning to end. Let's start a petition to send to Nickelodeon asking them to re-air the show.
I loved Alasdair, especially the dungeon scenes. That poor sexy guy. How many girls wanted to rescue him? He hung there barefoot, tight jeans, and a ripped shirt. They used to go through the tortures, spoken, yet never mercifully shown, such as water on his head dripped, the rack and (gasp) boiled in oil. I used to imagine poor handsome Alasdair in other torments. His feet tickled in stocks, wheel, beds of nails, and in each one, I would rescue him and kiss that boy. I'm 47 now and wonder what happened to that hunk? Also used to imagine that Lisa loved him and Christine would have love to punish the both of them... See, Christine loved him also.
YCDTOTV is one of the best classic tv shows of all time. I think someone should create a tv station just for 80's shows and cartoons. They should run marathons of YCDTOTV. They should also run these shows: Fraggle Rock, Today's Special, Knight Rider, Charles In Charge, The Muppet Show, Punky Brewster, etc. They should also run these cartoons: G.I. Joe, Transformers, Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors, Thundercats, Bionic Six, Count Duckula, Danger Mouse, Voltron, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Go-Bots, Rock Loards, Silverhawks, Heathcliff, and more. What can we do about this? We need our 80's shows and cartoons back.
ALASDAIR WHERE ARE YOU!!??!!
the most hypocrite canadian/american outfit alanis morissette-the-band- turned-diva this is not directed against the individual i knew from the beginnig about it but i have to give her credit for her breakthrough album with mr glenn ballard what got me is when my cousin overheard alanis ask a friend about bob dylan the "senator" or the "vice president" goodness i dont listen to bob but i know who he is
I am absolutely amazed that they have a ycdtotv web site. This is the coolest. Iam now 24, and I was a huge fan from 1988-1990. I watched the show religiously every night at 730pm on YTV. I have every episode from 1989 and 1990 on video tape. I love it. Amyas Godfrey was my love. I was so in love with him. I even wrote into YTV because I wanted to be part of the cast. Anyways, again this is totally cool that people out there are keeping the memories of this show alive and kicking.
I get really sad when i think about all the great shows from the 80's and that none of todays children will ever get to witness such greatnbess. :-)
Bring back all the 80's shows please!!!!
I think it's horable that most of the kids that watch Nick nowadays dont even know that any of the 80's shows exists.
I loved the show. The only sad thing is that I never see it being replayed.
Your web-site provides a great service. Even though I am only 18, I still find myself sturck by a bit of nostalgia for those great childrens shows I enjoyed in 80's.
i think they should run some of the episodes just to bring back memories...
I watched "You Can't Do That On Television" all of the time. This website brings back alot of great and disgusting memories. This website is great!!!!
I loved YCDTOTV. I'm trying to find a video of shows, so if anyone knows where I can find one e-mail me. This brought back memories. I will e-mail Nickalodeon to see if they have any available.
I LOVE THIS SITE. SO MANY MEMORIES. GOOD TO SEE THESE AMAZING PICS AGAIN. BUT CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE EPISODE IN WHICH TED GETS HIS MOUTH WASHED OUT WITH SOAP. IT WAS SO FUNNY.
This is quite possibly the coolest web site I've ever seen. YCDYOTV was my life back in the 1980's.
I know ben schreiner who was a cast member in 1984 and he is a great person. Shy and quiet but he is so sweet. Best friend I could ever have. I had known him closely for several years before he told me he was on the show. I think it is great some of the cast is still doing things. Don't worry about Ben..His poohbear watches over him closely.
my sister and i would watch this show religiously and we just now found this site
were ready for 2 episodes of ycdtotv get download 2 episodes of ycdtotv will come over.
Re:Download Sexual Equalty and World Records Episode! Bring To Link Section And Come With Me.
this was classic NICK!!! best show of the 80's when this show when off was the demise of Nick and they wonder why kids are so messed up today I wonder why cause of stupid shows they have now on Nick. Nick circa 87'-94' can't be topped. If anyone is smart they would show reruns of this great showI would definantly watch and if you were smart enough to tape any of these shows you have a treasure.
I loved this show and I would watch it everyday. I wish they could bring this back to Nickelodeon. This website brought back a lot of memories.
big fan!!! i loved this show and still refer to it at times. I guess as i get older i cling to things from my past, i guess its a reality check to think how long its been since i was watching it. I was excited to find this website!!!! it triggered alot of memories from the show. I have some friends that lived in a big old house,(college boys) it was a party house basically, pretty nasty, but anyway they had one of those sticky strip fly catchers in the kitchen and it always made me think of Barth's diner and him picking his nose with it. It never fails, if i see one of those fly catchers i think of this show. i would like to see it aired for just a short time, like a reunion special or something and have some of the old cast members come back and show reruns. MAJOR BLAST FROM THE PAST!!! Thanks!
I have been looking for information about this show for years. Many of my friends have forgotten or never had the privilage to watch. Is there any videos out there that you know that may be purchased? I am grateful to you for continuing to keep this lost show alive. This is another part of my past found. THank you!!
I am the daughter of Les Lye.
I am looking for a picture of the intro. With the guys head. We wanted to make t-shirts and stuff for personal use. If any one knows how to send me one please send to my email. Thanks, Meredith
I used to watch YCDTOTV when I was a kid and I always got a laugh out of it but I particularly liked Alanis Morrisette, Lisa Ruddy and Abby Hagyard because I always thought they were the funniest on the show. Here in Canada, we don`t get Nickolodeon but when I came upon this website it brought back some good memories.
Man this was an awesome website! Seeing it brought back a lot of memories and I always love finding stuff that is old and hard to find. I really miss YCDTOTV. It was one of my favorite shows back in the 80s when I was a kid. I would watch it almost everyday and I think the characters that brought most of the humor to the show were Christine, Alasdair, and Ross. Bring it back I loved the show and if anyone wants to talk about it please email me and if you know anyway I can get access to any of the shows by VHS cassette tape please send me a message.
YCDTOTV was the awesomest show ever on Nickelodeon. Bring it back!!!
Wow!!! I loved that show!!!!
YCDTOTV was the best show in the eighties!!! I miss it just as much as all of the other diehard fans out there LETS BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!! I miss the locker room jokes and BARTH "I HEARD THAT". Kids that watch nick now don't have any idea at all do they. All of us oldschool diehard fans need to fight to BRING IT BACK!!! Call me crazy but I LOVE THAT SHOW!!!
YCDTOTV was the first nickelodeon show I ever saw when my family first got cable TV back in 1987. I never saw slime before until Alasdair said "I don't know". That was the beginning of a never-ending 14 years of Nickelodeon for me, and I haven't stopped watching it since. Call me crazy and weird, but I too miss YCDTOTV. Alasdair, Christine, Ted, and Matthew were my favorite characters, and I think they are the ones that got slimed and watered the most. I wish Nickelodeon would bring back the old shows. I really miss them!!! If anyone out there is 31 like me and misses YCDTOTV as much as I do, I'd love to hear from you!!! By the way-this is an awesome web sight!!
Christine had the most perfectly trimmed pubes I have ever seen. Amazing lady! Whew!
hey i loved ycdtotv whean i was a kid i still wish it was on today
Great site!!! This was my favorite show when I was little. I had the biggest crush on Alasdair. I wish all the former cast members the best.
Is there anyone out there likes likes great classic shows. You Can't do that on T.V. is one of the finest shows that was ever on. It is a cring shame that a show with that kind of quality doesn't exsist anymore. To any real fans of the show. Even if you remember the episodes of "You can't do that in comics". Drop me a line I'd love to hear from you. P.S. If anyone has any of those old "You Can't in Comics", definatly drop me a line. I loved collecting those as a child and wish I had them back. davidevans86 @ hotmail.com
I happened across this site and couldn't pass up the opportunity to give some credit to the late Roger Price, who created the show. For may years, he was one of the truly twisted geniuses who never found a niche in the mainstream entertainment industry. In the 50s, he created Droodles (weird doodles with funny captions). A decade later, he published a satiric magazine called Grump. Bow your heads for a moment of silence, YCDTOTV fans. It never would have happened without him.
YCDTOTV was one of my best memories of my childhood. I watched that show every chance I could get. My day was not complete unless I saw it, I guess I was adicted. I remember the episodes, characters, and ads like it was yesterday. Time has gone by and most of the kids who grew up with the show are all older now and may not even remember the show. Thank god there are websites and people who are willing to keep our memories alive. I am 22 and it is scary to think that the show is as old as I am. We must always remember this show and try to keep the legacy alive. Let's try to put it back on the tube!!!
This show brings back great memories for me. Besides anime, this was the best show on earth I had thought back then. It still is. My brother and I just loved this show and finding a webpage on the show is just fantastic. We especially liked the Ross' Egg-O-Rama episode and the skits with Christine & Alasdair in the space shuttle. Maybe Comedy Central or Nick at Nite could bring it back somehow......
Wow! You Can't web site AND Allo Allo pics! Perfection in web form! British terestrial TV also does not show you can't , but I saw it in the US, I never realized it was Canadian or went on for so long! Where and how are you getting your Allo Allo video grabs from, BBC have just stopped showing it here again, so I can't get my fix! I already have the commercial vids, and I'm still not satisfied! Any info would be great! Sarah
I'm just another grown-up kid who loved every minute of this show, and I have a question for anyone out there who might know: What ever happened to Amyas Godfrey? This kid had the whole package - smart, funny, cute..., and I can't believe that one lousy episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark" (in which he appears for about 2 minutes, and is wearing a hooded cloak so you would never know it was him if he wasn't in the credits)was the extent of his acting career after YCDTOTV.If anyone knows anything, either e-mail me or leave a message as a guest book entry, OK?
I Dont Know! I am looking to buy any videos of YCDTOTV Email me with any info!
This is my all time favorite show. I was addicted to it when i was young. Now I crave it. I want more of this show. I am still going through withdrawal, I have to have it now since I downloaded an episode from ycdtot.com. Oh man. Well, anyways. I wish they would re-air it on nick every Sunday afternoon, for the older folks who love and miss this show. Or even Saturday mornings on ABC. I do have one memory of this show. I was about 8, ignorant you know, when I called my local operator so she could give me the number to the show. She hung up on me. I miss this show dearly. BRING IT BACK! Atleast on VHS or DVD.
i and all my cousins used to love ycdtotv. there's never been another show like it.
Excellent page, gentlemen. Just another kid warped by the genius of this screwed up canadian skit show and praying for it's syndication in a future not far away.
OH MY GOD!!!!!! I can't belive I actually found a website for YCDTOTV!!! I was soooo thrilled that I got emotional and almost cried with happiness!!! I was extremely upset when they took the show of the air back in 1992-93 because I am VERY fond of the show. I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid back in the 80's! What I LOVED about the show was how kids made fun of adults...not to mention all of those gross side-effects/jokes(barf, boogers, road-kill,etc.) I wish I had taped A Lot more episodes!!! But, anyways, Christine, Lisa and Les Lye(Barth, Lance Prevert) will ALWAYS be my favorites from the show!!!!Question...where can I go to get some more episodes????:) Thank you for being here. You web site is absolutely charming!!!:) Bye-bye.
P.S. Hope my spelling wasn't to awful.:(
I always watched the show at my grandparents house on a sunday nite after the family had dinner. I remember laughing so hard when ever christine got slimed. I did not really like her. After they took it away there was nothing like it. I loved degrassi high but it was nothing like ycdtot!!!
I really liked this show when I was young and dumb, but now? Why don't they start the show up again? and release the older episodes on video?
i enjoy this site so much and i ahve been here so many times i never got a chance to sign the guest book it is a great site keep up the good work and keep updating more often
I have been looking for sites all over the place...I have found this and many others. I am so glad to see that the fire for this show is still alive and well. Now if I could possibly find some episodes....
Great show. Whatever happened to Lisa & Christine the real babes? Always wanted to see them in the dungeon sccenes now and then, but... hey did you hear that?
I just wanted to express my enjoyment I felt with each episode of YCDTOT. My best friend and I used to go down to my basement and write/re-enact our own scripts of the show; they were plastered all over the walls. It was impressive to see young people of our age with a show centered on them. It was a lot of clean (and a... not so clean) fun. Thanks!!! p.s.... I used to have to big crush on Alister...a...is he still around? LOL thanks again
I used to watch YCDTOTV when I was young and I asked someone from YTV if there was a way to get some episodes and they don't. Just like most of you, I want some episodes. So if anyone finds some, VHS, DVD, VCD, MPG, AVI, real, Beta, anything, email me!!!... Q: Where can I get those tapes? A: I don't know?... *SPLASH*!!... :-) PS Does anyone remember what's the episode where there a fire then that person yells WATER, but no water poured out? email me if you have the answer.
OH MY GOD. THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SITE. I SUGGEST THIS SHOW BE RE-AIRED. VERYBODY WRITE TO NICKELODEON AND DEMAND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MIGHT SEEM SCARY,BUT IM JUST BEING STUPID. REALLY LIKE THE SHOW/SITE. MIKE IS LOOKING AT PICTURES OF ALANIS RIGHT NOW. IM IN CLASS NOW SO I HAVE TO GO. cYA!!
Great website to a show that should be put back on television. I just wish I could see some video clips from the show.
I'm glad I found this website. YCDTOT was my favorite show and I wish Nickelodeon would put it back on. When I was little, my bestfriend Gemma and I used to use the closet doors as lockers and we would copy the shows locker room jokes.
I love this show! It's one of my favourite TV shows. I wish this show was on regular TV instead of cable. I missed a lot of great episodes during the 80s. The first time I saw the show was when I was over my friend's house in 1986: There was a scene where Christine was playing a video game and a pie supposedly came out of the TV set and hit her in the face!
i love you can't do that, it was and still is one of my favs. if and one can help me find any of the shows on tape please e-mail. love the site!!!!!
I only wish i could recapture the essence of this show... all i know is that there never will be another one like it!!! PLEASE!!! If anyone has any late breaking info on Alasdair or Kevin Kuboscki, EMAIL TO ME IMMEDIATLEY!!!!!! PICTURES, ANYTHING, OLD TOYS...
My all time favorite show... Matthew Godfrey was quite handsom...
Didn't leave my e-mail address because this is a business computer...will have mine set up soon. YCDTOTV was my all-time favorite show, and I have most of the episodes on tape (somewhere). To the webmaster (or whomever requested it), I have the episode of "Are you afraid of the Dark" with Amyas Godfrey in it on tape. It will probably take me some time to find it if you really want it. However, Amyas is only in the episode for about 2 minutes at the end, and he's wearing a hooded robe in a dark cemetery (he's playing a graveyard ghost for his cousin, who's trying to scare his friends)and if nobody told you you wouldn't know that it was him. I'll leave my address for you as soon as I get one if you're still interested.
Awsome site! But what I want to know is....
hey I LOVE THIS SHOW! at www.ycdtotv.com you can dl a episode of YCDTOT! its soo funny! its like flashback to when i was lke 4 yrs. old!
WOW, what a site. But you got way to much time on your hands. What the hell were you thinking.
My favorite star on YCDTOTV was Snake-eyes. It was funny when he drove the bus too fast and it split into two pieces right down the aisle (The left side and the right side would separate from each other. Barth was another favorite character because he made the kids eat disgusting burgers and then they threw up. I also liked it when he said, "I HEARD THAT!" after the kids said something he didn't like. Even the beginning was funny when they mentioned that a certain episode would not be shown for a certain reason (ie: Mr. Roger's neighborhood will not be shown at this time because the neighborhood is not safe). I also liked it when people said, "I don't know." because they got slimed. I also liked it when they said, "Water" because they got wet. This show really rocks and rules. Nickelodeon should bring this show back or else it should be aired on another popular network. It should still be on air because it is supposed to make people laugh.
YCDTOTV is the finest televsion show ever. What happened to Nickelodeon. It's just not as good as it was back in the day. Or maybe I'm just getting too old. Nick needs to bring back YCDTOTV and introduce a younger generation to what good programing really is.
I love all the addtional pictures this website has added of Christine McGlade. Would it be possible to show some of her feet especially the episode in which her leg was in a cast and the bottom of her foot was tickled by a feather-duster?
this is a great site. i loved this show when it was on. well i still love it.
Y.C.D.T.O.T.V. Proved there were cool kids in the 80's! They weren't flashy either. Long hair, t-shirts and short Adidas or rugby shorts are the coolest!
I say we go Pickett Nick Studios and have them bring back YCDTOTV!!! there has got to be a way to contact them and ask them, i tried but this dinosaur system wont let me on there web site. any care to try? let me know what they say..
Chaz.
'you can't do that on television' rocks! nickelodeon is horrible for taking it away. you guys have an awesome website here and i am glad i FINALLY found it!
